American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Program

National K-9 also administers the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Test to interested dog owners. The CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. Contact National K-9 at (614) 864-8808 for more detail regarding scheduling information. Visit the following website for more information on the AKC CGC Test.

Personal Protection Training

A protection training program teaches qualified dogs to protect individuals, families, and property while remaining an affectionate and safe pet. Our balanced training methods enhance the dog’s natural suspicion and protection instincts through confidence building, not through intimidation or force. This training includes the dog recognizing a threat, giving the alert command, and calling a dog out for effective and controlled protection. To qualify for this type of training a pre-enrollment evaluation must be completed by a staff trainer. All dogs must be obedience trained on and off leash before beginning this program. After an initial residency stay, owners and dogs work with our trainers in follow-up lessons to learn effective handling skills for emergency situations. Call our business office at (614) 864-8808 for more information.

Assistance Dog Training for Disabled

Physical assistance training benefits those who are physically challenged and in need of assistance and companionship. National K-9 can evaluate your special training needs and your dog to determine if you would be good candidates for assistance dog training.
