Specialty Training

American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen

National K-9 also administers the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Test to interested dog owners. The CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

National K-9 also offers classes and testing for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Community Test and American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Urban.  National K-9 can also assist with the AKC Trick Dog Titles.

Agility

National K-9 offers Dog Agility classes to introduce dogs and their families to the increasingly popular dog sport.  Classes teach handlers how to direct their dog through a pre-set obstacle course within a certain time limit.  Beginner courses introduce you and your dog to obstacles, and provide the basics of how to compete.  These classes are great ways to build your dog’s overall confidence and have fun working as a team.  Classes are offered periodically throughout the year and most classes are approximately one hour and take place over several weeks.

Pet Tech® First Aid Courses

National K-9 has a Pet Tech® Instructor on staff and we offer the Pet Tech’s® CPR & First Aid For Your Pets and the Pet Tech® Complete PetSaver™ Training.  These training opportunities teach pet owners about first aid and overall care for dogs and cats.  Upon successful completion, each participant will receive a certificate and wallet card.  Each training includes a 40-page handbook to keep for reference.  If you would like more information about the Pet Tech® instruction offered at National K-9, please email us at training@nk9.com or call 614-864-88808.

Service Dog Training for Disabled

National K-9’s founder is credited with pioneering the first comprehensive support dog assistance program in the United States in 1977. Service dogs with physical assistance training provide benefits to those who are physically challenged and in need of assistance and companionship. National K-9 can evaluate your special training needs and your dog to determine if you would be good candidates for service dog training.  National K-9 can also assist you with selection of a service dog candidate to meet your individual training needs.  Please contact our office at 614-864-8808 or email training@nk9.com for additional information.

National K-9's free training evaluation will allow our certified trainer to learn more about your dog and your goals. During this evaluation our trainer will also answer your questions about training and your dog’s behavior.
