Welcome:  The National K-9 Learning Center in Columbus, Ohio is regarded as a leader within the fields of dog training, behavior modification, and dog trainer education.

The National K-9 Learning Center has offered dog training and behavior counseling services to dog owners in Central Ohio since 1975.  In 1981 National K-9 established its School for Dog Trainers with the mission of offering interested individuals the skills and knowledge to pursue careers within the field of professional dog training. Over 2,300 National K-9 School for Dog Trainers’ graduates have created profitable and rewarding careers all over the United States and in more than 45 different foreign countries.   

School for dog trainers’ on-going educational opportunities for 2024 are now available.

School for Dog Trainers. More Than An Education, A Career.

The National K-9 School for Dog Trainers provides students with more than a basic education; students are offered the knowledge and skills required to become professional dog trainers. The broad scope of National K-9’s curriculum immediately prepares students to begin a full-time or part-time career training dogs upon completion of our courses. Professional dog training is a profitable and satisfying occupation whether as a main career or as a second income.

BECOME A CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL TRAINER

The National K-9 School for Dog Trainers is regulated and approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. This state board ensures compliance set by Ohio law and grants National K-9 the authority to issue professional certifications. Upon completion of a National K-9 School for Dog Trainers’ course, graduates are authorized by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools to use the title Certified Professional Trainer or letters CPT after their name.  National K-9 is also a member of the Ohio-Michigan Association of Career Colleges and Schools.

The National K-9 Learning Center in Columbus, Ohio was founded in 1975 and has been educating professional dog trainers since 1981.  National K-9 currently has over 2,300 graduates that have received professional certification from all 50 United States and more than 45 different foreign countries.

RECEIVE PRACTICAL AND CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION

All subject matter offered, both in the classroom and in practical application, is conducive to the success of our graduates. National K-9 students receive practical (hands-on) and classroom instruction from experienced instructors. Students are encouraged to bring a dog with them to participate in the practical (hands-on) workshops. While correspondence courses, videos, websites, and books may be somewhat helpful, they cannot replace the immediate feedback an experienced instructor/trainer can provide.

Our certified professional trainers offer quality education and training programs for all breeds or mixed breeds of dogs and their families.  On and off leash training that is tailored to you and your dog.

PUPPY PRESCHOOL

Our puppy preschool program is designed help you and your 8 to 16 week old puppy to get off to a great start. Preschool is designed to teach you to better understand your puppy’s needs, curb behavior problems, teach good manners, and socialize them to the world around them.

Behavior Modification

Programs and counseling services that advise owners on behavior causes and then assist with solutions to specific problems such as socialization issues, anxiety, chewing, barking, possessive behaviors, aggression and more.

Our experienced and caring staff provides year-round dog boarding while you are away.  We also offer bath services at completion of boarding stays or as a same-day drop-off service.
